Avalon Organics Vitamin C Soothing Lip Balm

This was recommended to me by a Veg friend. He said it was the best vegan lip balm around, and can easily be found.

This is in a much thicker tube than your average lip balm. It fits nicely in pockets and is typically what I carry with me when I'm working. The big claim of this lip balm is the power of it's Vitamin C. It's suppose to help with your skin defenses as well as providing protection against drying and chapping of your lips.

Putting this stuff on is amazing. I find myself going over my lips several times. The scent is strong as is its taste. Its not greasy or waxy, it is just the right texture. And it lasts a long time. I reapply after eating, but aside from that this stuff can go for hours.

And as far as its claim goes, it certainly does heal, restore, and protect lips. There is definitely a soothing factor to this lip balm. I even find myself putting it on before I sleep at night. And I have noticed that when at work, my lips stay moisturized. I work in a very dry atmosphere and my lips often chap as soon as I walk through the gate (seriously....it's terribly dry) but with this in my pocket I can handle a 9 hour day, no problems.

Downside, when this stuff gets warm, it gets very soft, very quickly and so when you try to apply it, some oozes outside the lip of the container and it gets messy. I keep in my pocket, so within the first few hours of my shift, i have to try and twirl the tube around as to not waste the lip balm that has escaped over the edge.

Another downer to this lip balm is the price. If you can get lucky enough to get it on sale, it's a good deal. But $5 for this is a bit much, especially for the amount you get. I think you're really paying for packaging because the tube is really nice.

HOWEVER it's organic, vegan, and cruelty free, and is available at your local Wegman's organic section... so the fact that it is easily accessible is a luxury in the not so vegan friendly market. It's really your personal preference. If you want a long lasting, long wearing lip balm and have a few extra dollars to spend, indulge.

Rating: 4.5 outta 5
